Three-vowel combinations
Most vowel combinations involve two vowels, but a few have three.
Optionally, an A can be inserted between I and a following vowel, to create a three-vowel combination. For example, godię́:naˀ becomes godiáęnaˀ. I think this is only possible when stem R has been deleted between vowels, as in /godi-ręn-aˀ/ → [godi-áęn-aˀ], or [godi-jáęn-aˀ]. So the A is a means of signalling the deleted R.
The word meaning ‘muskrat’ has two different pronunciations, one of which has three vowels in a row.
